Professor Giorgio PARMIANI (2006)
Giorgio Parmiani obtained his MD degree at School of
Medicine of the University of Milan in 1967. Then he
specialized in Oncology at University of Pavia in 1973.
He is currently Head of the Unit of Immunotherapy of
Human Tumors and Director of the Department of Innovative
Therapy of the Istituto Nazionale Tumori (INT) of Milan.
Professor Parmiani was trained in tumor immunology at
the Institute for Cancer Research of Philadelphia and
then has continued his career at the INT. Since 1996
he is Professor of Oncology (contract) at the School
of Oncology of the University of Milan. He has been
actively involved in pre-clinical and translational
research in tumor immunology and immunotherapy. His
main interests are focused on human tumor antigens,
T cell response, escape mechanisms and immunotherapy
of human tumors. He is in the editorial board of several
scientific journals and has served and continues to
serve as reviewer in the major oncology and immunology
journals.
Professor Parmiani is author and co-author of over
400 publications most in international peer-reviewed
journals, and of 38 book chapters.
